Get in Front of It

As you start your work week, I challenge you get in front of your journey. Yes…get in front of your journey. Don’t allow the week to be a duplicate of last week, and the week before, and the week before. You get where I’m going with this?

Monday doesn’t have to be mundane nor dreaded. In fact, it’s a new day of a new week. I like to see each day as a new mercy and a new opportunity. I don’t want my days and weeks to be a carbon copy of what I’ve already been through – especially when I spent the bulk of that time praying that God would make them hurry up and pass. I can only imagine you feel similarly.

Where does change begin? On the inside.

Let’s go in.

So, you have certain feelings and desires inside of you, gnawing at you. (I’m not just talking career. You know what you’re feeling.) It’s uncomfortable because something new is awakening in you and is ready to present itself. The problem surfaces when logic comes into play.

A great part of us is used to routine and used to dealing with the known. However, we internally deem the unknown as uncertain and unsafe, so we cling to the known.

Inner Conflict

The more you suppress that innate calling, the more the conflict consumes you and frustrates you. It doesn't fizzle away because it is more than an alarm sounding. This thing on the inside is growing. It is alerting you that it is time for it to spring forward and breathe new life. That desire wants to manifest and live.

So what do you do? I have a couple of things you can do.

Get In Front Of IT

In this first part of my series, let's talk about what you see.

You have a sense of urgency within you, right? OK. So what do you see? How does tomorrow look for you. How about next week? Next month? Six months from now?

Bring your vision, your goals into focus. Take a moment to think about it. What do you see yourself doing? How do you feel about it? Do you see yourself making massive gains in this particular area of your life?

Let’s take it a step further. Let’s write.

For the urgency you feel, what do you see? Write it down in a journal or in your own thinking space. Don’t limit or edit your thoughts. Let it flow.

Then set it to the side. If more of the vision comes to mind, add it to your writing.

The end of this year is less than 6 months away. That almost feels like two seconds from now. Meanwhile, the kids will be heading back to school. The fiscal year at work is almost wrapping up and transitioning into a new year. Your home is about to morph into a whole new routine. Where will you be in the midst of this change? Praying for the day to end, so that the next day can come with the same adversity? If you want change in your life, you have to be willing to help engineer the change or simply accept the change.

Stay tuned for part 2.
